Brazilian Legend Ronaldo Retires From Soccer

Ronaldo Luís Nazário de Lima, commonly known as Ronaldo, is considered as one of the most prolific scorers in the world in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Playing for Brazil in 97 international matches, Ronaldo is also regarded as one among the greatest players of all time. The football star has recently said goodbye to soccer because his body is no longer able to meet the demands of the game. Ronaldo leaves football with the record of most goals scored in the history of the FIFA World Cup. Besides playing for Brazil, the 34-year-old striker played for many clubs including AC Milan, Real Madrid, Inter Milan, Barcelona, PSV Eindhoven and so on.


Ronaldo decided to end a magnificent career in which he earned two World Cups with Brazil as well as grabbed many successes with some of Europe\’s top teams

Playing for 18 years despite repeated knee trouble, Ronaldo said that it was very hard for him to say goodbye to soccer because he wanted to continue but he lost the fight to his body.

With sons Alex and Ronald by his side, Ronald said that he felt like it was his first death when announcing the decision to retire.

Ronaldo is one of only two men to have won the FIFA Player of the Year award three times and the highest goal scorer in the history of the World Cup with his fifteenth goal

Ronaldo retired on 14 February 2011. Pain and hypothyroidism were cited as the reasons for his retirement.

Ronaldo cried when he was talking about his decision to retire from his career in soccer. He also publicly apologized for failing in the Libertadores project.

A string of injuries and hypothyroidism make it difficult for Ronaldo to lose weight and stay in shape.
