Arsenal’s £50m Target Eyes Chelsea Move

A‌rsnal long-term target Álvaro Morata, has reportedly informed Real MADRID that he wants to join Premier League giants, Chelsea, in the summer.

The Real Madrid striker has not only told his close friends about his desire to move abroad, but has also informed the club’s coaching staff and board members that he will leave Madrid at the end of the season.

Morata re-joined Madrid in the summer, but has struggled to get regular games as he is often forced to play second fiddle to Karim Benzema, which has left the player frustrated.

Morata, reportedly, is a fan of Antonio Conte, the Chelsea manager, and wants to join the Blues next summer. Conte has made a huge impact since his arrival, and has taken Chelsea to the top of the Premier League after 24 games. Arsenal are also reportedly interested, but it seems Morata is keen to join the other London club instead.

According to reports from Gol Diario, the striker has been in contact with the Chelsea manager, with whom he maintains a good relationship. It was Conte who set up his move to Juventus before departing to take charge of the Italy national team.

If Morata’s situation doesn’t improve drastically, which doesn’t seem likely, Real Madrid would be left with no option but to negotiate a deal with the Blues According to reports from the Telegraph, Los Blancos would demand a fee in the region of £50m for the striker.

Arsenal Star Questions Arsene Wenger’s Decisions After Chelsea Humiliation

Laurent Koscielny has questioned Arsene Wenger’s team selection following Arsenal’s dismal showing in the 3-1 defeat at the hands of Chelsea last Saturday.

The Gunners were gunned down by their rivals and current league leaders and the French defender believes it was a combination of team selection and the players not performing as a unit that led to their downfall at Stamford Bridge.

Wenger made some questionable choices when he selected Alex Iwobi ahead of Danny Welbeck. The former Manchester United striker in his first start this season against Southampton a week earlier, and it should have earned him a place ahead of the Nigerian forward.

Gabriel started for Arsenal against Watford with Wenger stating that the Brazilian was preferred to regular starter Hector Bellerin due to the height advantage he provides. The Spaniard returned to the starting XI against Chelsea and it was his lack of height that allowed Marcos Alonso to open the scoring.

The Arsenal last man admits that the north London club’s title chances are all but over, but has urged his team to get back to winning ways and put up more of a fight in the coming games.

“I think we played some players in front of others and I think we should have played more as a team and there was space to do so. They hit us on the counter,” Koscielny said, as quoted by the Mirror.

“It will be difficult now. Mathematically, nothing is done but we know that it is going to be very complicated.

“We need to come back to the quality of our game, our passing, movement,” the France international added.

English Premier League; Chelsea Vs Arsenal Preview And Prediction

Arsenal will visit the Stamford Bridge stadium to face the premier league table toppers Chelsea, one-on-one for the second time this season.

Arsenal was the better side against their rivals Chelsea, in the first match between the two London teams at the Emirates Stadium this season.

Three goals from Wenger’s men in the first half was all that was needed to beat the blues who managed to get just one shot on target after about 70 minutes. But for this event, I believe things will be a lot more different; Chelsea picking up form since the end of last year, and Arsenal losing balance.

Chelsea have lost just one match in the last 16 games, got one draw, winning all other games.

They have been playing great in all phases of play, and Conte’s 3-4-3 proved to be a success, despite criticism. Last time out they played 1:1 with Liverpool at Anfield. It was a pretty even match, and the draw was probably the most fair outcome, even though Costa had a penalty saved by Mignolet in the 76th minute. They will be with every first team player in this match, and that will be a threat to their opponents.

Arsenal lost at home to Watford in the last league fixture. That result obviously came as a shock, but it proved again that Arsenal are not a team for big things. The game started in a worst way possible for Arsenal, with Watford being already 2:0 up in 13th minute. Arsenal were attacking, trying to get back into the game, but they only managed to score one in 58th minute through Iwobi the young Nigerian. That goal didn’t make them any happier and it practically put them out of the title race.

Arsenal have been up to what can be termed  “an Arsenal” in the last few weeks. Dropping points wherever they find themselves and putting up very miserable displays especially when Giroud leads the attack.

Chelsea are the favorites to win this one, but we cannot just let down guard too easy to what the bookies want us to buy.

Frank Lampard Retires

Former Chelsea and England midfielder Frank Lampard has retired, bringing to an end a 21-year professional career.

Lampard, who won 106 caps for his country, left New York City FC in November after his contract expired. In a statement on his Facebook page, the 38-year-old said he had taken the decision to retire despite receiving “a number of exciting offers to continue playing at home and abroad”.

“After 21 incredible years, I have decided that now is the right time to finish my career as a professional footballer,” he wrote. “Whilst I have received a number of exciting offers to continue playing at home and abroad, at 38 I feel now is the time to begin the next chapter in my life. I’m immensely proud of the trophies I’ve won, of representing my country over 100 times and of scoring more than 300 career goals.”

Lampard is also Chelsea’s all-time leading goalscorer, with 211 goals in 649 appearances, and captained the club in their greatest achievement – winning the 2012 Champions League final, when he played a pivotal role – and in the Europa League final the following season.

Lampard, an articulate and thoughtful player, will be in demand as a media pundit and a career in television is likely to some degree although there is an expectation in the game that he will see through gaining his coaching qualifications and consider moving into management.

He won 11 major trophies, including three Premier League titles and the Champions League in 2012. Lampard also won four FA Cups, two League Cups and the Europa League.

I’m Desperate To Play — Begovic

Chelsea goalkeeper Asmir Begovic could be on his way out of the club by the time the blues face Liverpool.

Begovic would be happy to turn his back on Chelsea’s march towards the Premier League title in order to secure first-team football.

He made his fifth appearance of the season as Chelsea eased to a 4-0 FA Cup win over Brentford on Saturday but has grown tired of playing understudy to Thibault Courtois.

The Chelsea boss has acknowledged Bournemouth’s interest in Begovic and the 29-year-old is in dialogue with his coach over a departure before Tuesday’s deadline, although the league leaders’ desire to have a replacement drafted in could complicate the matter.

“I have spoken with the boss – we are quite open about it, he knows I am desperate to play, and that’s all it is really,” Begovic told reporters.

“If he can make it happen for me he will. That is something that is going to be sorted out in the next couple of days.

“I’m 29, 30 in the summer, and feel fantastic and in great shape. It would be a waste not to play and show people what I can do.”

He added: “I hope that the team lifts the title and maybe I will be part of that, but it is difficult when you don’t play for a certain amount of time. That overrides everything, your football.”
