English Championship; Huddersfield vs Brighton Preview And Prediction

The Championship table toppers Brighton will tackle fellow Championship team Huddersfield this evening in the John Smith’s Stadium, home ground to latter.

Huddersfield the home side in this encounter will be looking to that as an advantage for something as they aim to progress up the table.

They have been really vulnerable at the back, conceding 30 goals in 27 games which is the 2nd highest conceded by the top 8 teams in the league. However, their home form has seen them lose only twice this season, scoring 19 goals in the 13 games played this season.

Huddersfield have now won 8 out of their last 10 games in all competitions and will look to create trouble for Brighton who have looked slightly vulnerable on the road. 9 of their 13 games this season have seen both them and their opponents score which means 2 goals looks a good chance of landing.

Brighton the visitors,  come into this encounter looking to maintain their form of victories which has now seen them 7 out of their last 8 games in all competitions and with just 1 loss coming against Lincoln City in the FA Cup which was a shock loss after they went 1-0 up.

They have been focussed on getting promoted to the Premier League, where they now lead the division by 1 point and with a game in hand. Brighton travel to promotion chasing Huddersfield as well and will know that they need to find the back of the net early on in order to have a chance to win this encounter. A lot of reliance will been on Glen Murray who has already netted 15 goals for them this season. Their offense has been pretty decent netting 43 goals in 27 games, which is almost a 1.5 goals per season but their strong suit has been not he defensive end where they have conceded only 18 goals in 27 games. Only 8 out of 27 games for Brighton have seen less than 2 goals.

With both teams coming into this encounter with great form behind them, I cannot help but look to back at least Over 2.5 goals to be scored in this encounter. Odd 2.00

Ben Wilson Joins Rochdale On Loan

Cardiff City goalkeeper Ben Wilson has joined League One Rochdale on loan until the end of the season.

The 24-year-old, who was Cardiff’s first choice gloveman at the start of the season after David Marshall’s departure, has dropped behind Ben Amos, Brian Murphy and Allan McGregor in the Bluebirds’ pecking order.

Wilson made his Cardiff league debut in a 1-0 defeat to Reading earlier in the season and he signed a two-year contract with the Bluebirds in August.

He will now join Dale for the rest of the season.

Championship; Reading Vs Fulham Preview And Prediction

Reading hosts Fulham in today’s championship fixture.

Two good teams in the championship here but Reading have more points and also have more points at home vs Fulham away so it seems worth a bet to back them at these odds.

Reading have won 5 of their last 6 home games. Overall they only lost 2/13 games at home so far, very strong home form which sees them in 5th place in the table.

Fulham are a solid team but I don’t see any justification for them being favourites away from home here. Fulham have won 5 away games out of 12 which is decent but that’s still 7/12 they haven’t won.

Reading are very strong at home (quite talented but mentally weak) and took down some good teams already, I don’t think they will lose this one and the odds for a win are pretty attractive, as a win will move them up to 3rd place with 49 points from 5th.

But nevertheless, we’ll settle for a Reading Win Or Draw option. Odd 1.70

EFL Player Of The Month Nominations For December 2016

The nominations for the Sky Bet Championship Player of the Month award for December 2016. The winner will be announced on Friday.

  • Dwight Gayle (Newcastle United)

Six more goals in December for Newcastle’s prolific forward. His hat-trick against Birmingham City was a perfect header, right-foot tap-in, left-foot finish combination, while a brilliant angled volley against Nottingham Forest highlighted his technique.

  • Sam Winnall (Barnsley)

Scored every type of goal in December – running on to through-balls, turning the ball home from close range and cleverly looping headers when needed, as he did against Cardiff City. It all added up to six goals in six appearances in the month.

  • David Stockdale (Brighton & Hove Albion)

The last line of an impressive defence, he pulled off crucial saves at vital times to preserve all four of Brighton’s victories in the month. Outstanding at Blackburn Rovers and Birmingham, his hallmark this season has been his consistency.

  • Dave Edwards (Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Liberated by new Wolves manager Paul Lambert, the 30-year-old went forward with stunning effect in December, arriving late in the area to score four decisive goals. Each one either put Wolves in front or brought them level.

Transfer Rumour; Former Arsenal Star Set For Big Money Qatar Move In January

Former Arsenal and Morocco striker Marouane Chamakh is set to say goodbye to English football and secure a final, big-money pay-day by signing a deal with Qatari-based club Al-Arabi.

Chamakh is currently signed with Cardiff City but the Moroccan has made only a couple of fleeting substitute appearances in the past few months since joining the Championship side on a free transfer in October.

Bluebirds coach Neil Warnock has conceded that he would be willing to let the ex-Arsenal forward leave the club during the January transfer window as he looks to free up funds. He also hinted that there are admirers of the North African in the Middle East, who would spend big to acquire his services.

“I’ll be speaking to them [Chamakh and ex-Manchester United midfielder Kieran Richardson], because it’s important that I get the right balance, probably before the Boxing Day game we’ll be having a talk with those two,” veteran Warnock told Wales Online.

“It’s not 100 percent, but I think both lads realise that I want to bring people in, and they’re the obvious two that I can get off the wage bill,” the coach continued. “So the chances are that we will be releasing them.

“I feel a bit sorry for Chamakh because I brought him in, looking at the videos I thought that we needed an influx of players.

“I wasn’t aware of [Emyr Huws] at the time, or of Declan John when I brought Kieran in,” Warnock added. “I didn’t think we had any cover at all for Rickie Lambert, which is why I brought Chamakh in. When the opportunities have come, I’ve actually gone with [Benin forward Frederic Gounongbe] because he’d done well in training.”

Warnock paid warm tribute to the Moroccan, while hinting that he’d have no trouble making big money in the Middle East.

“[Chamakh]’s been a good pro really, he’s given me no hassle whatsoever, trained well,” the former Sheffield United boss said. “Kieran’s been a really good pro, but I feel we’ve got to manipulate this squad and those two are the easiest targets.

“They’ll both get clubs. Chamakh, he can make a fortune in Qatar and these places, the money that he’s been offered is quite immoral really. You can’t blame him, can you? When you look at Oscar, it’s frightening the way it is going.”

Developing the story, The Mirror has named Qatari side Al-Arabi SC – current employers of Nigeria’s Imoh Ezekiel and Moustapha Sall of Senegal – to have already opened discussions with the 32-year-old about a prospective switch next month.

The forward joined Arsenal in 2010 after winning the French title with Bordeaux, but despite a series of encouraging showings in North London, he struggled to bring his Ligue 1 form to the Premier League. He then moved on to Crystal Palace in 2013, following a loan spell with West Ham United.

He signed for Cardiff in October as one of a raft of Warnock signings, having been released by Palace during the summer, but has made just two substitute appearances for the capital club.
