Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo added another award to his collection on Monday after being voted FIFA’s Best Men’s Player for 2016.
The Portuguese who picked up his fourth Ballon d’Or in December, fought off competition from Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann for the second time in a month to walk away with the FIFA accolade.
Ronaldo had an amazing 2016, which saw him win the UEFA Champions League with Los Blancos before leading the Selecao to their maiden European Championship title two months later.
The 31-year-old forward has been instrumental to Real’s La Liga title challenge this season, his 11 goals in 12 matches helping Zinedine Zidane’s side sit four points clear of the chasing pack at the summit with a game in hand.
During the voting period for the prize, Ronaldo scored 61 goals and provided 20 assists in 60 games for both club and country.
