Beautiful Vita with a cool sumi-e inkwash style oni on back. OLED display (I’m fairly indifferent since I’ve not actually seen the LCD models, but it looks no better than my LCD phone or tablet). Feels substantial and high quality. Newer 2000 model Vita just looks cheaper in order to keep the cost and weight down. Much cooler than any of the US Vita systems like the lame Borderlands edition for roughly the same price. Haven’t actually played Toukiden yet, but I’m working on other Vita games in my backlog.

No issues of compatibility with western games.

Complaints? The OLED display has a very limited field of view before contrast takes a nosedive. I have no modern LCD displays with this issue. Consider it similar to having to look right directly on to a (not “New”) 3DS in 3D mode to get a proper view. Otherwise it’s beautiful.

Sony needs to get a clue about standards and compatibility. At least they got it right with the 2000 model by dumping the silly proprietary USB cable for a standard cable. Sony memory is downright robbery and has always been a ripoff. To make matters worse, it’s practically mandatory to even launch a game and yet the older systems have *none*. At least the 2000 includes some internal memory. The main advantage to picking up a US bundle is an included memory card, but you can find 4GB cards both new and used for the cost of about two value meals at a fast food joint.

I’ve already run into some quirks with the Vita OS that are minor annoyances and bugs. One of which is taking it out of suspend and completely losing all volume control without a reboot. General UI design feels clunky and games make poor use of touch paired with hard buttons. It’s like there are no human interface guidelines for how the games are programmed, or else they are flawed.

Really dislike the oval buttons that they fortunately made round in the newer models. Wish that analog sticks were above the digital buttons instead of below. It would improve comfort and make it less likely to accidentally bump the sticks when playing.

You will have no warranty for a Japanese system in NA. So if you have bad luck or abuse your machines, don’t buy this and instead get a Borderlands bundle. Really wish that Sony, being an international company, would at least partially honor warranties for Japanese systems since they don’t offer proper limited editions over here.

Otherwise, a wonderful system and probably the only real way to play all of today’s RPGs that don’t make it to 3DS or PS3. But if you don’t like RPGs, you probably want to stay far away from Vita. Also, SCEA seems to be dropping the ball on Vita. It may just be a matter of time before they largely ignore it altogether.

I love it.

Great Vita Edition, December 3, 2014

I bought this a month ago. The package came in great conditions and fast.

This Vita edition it’s awesome. It’s one of the best special edition Vita’s so far. The back image it’s really cool and the system is really easy to use.

Even before you start playing anything it will ask you for what language you want to use so you won’t have any trouble with that. The only difference is that in this version you “accept” by pressing “circle” instead of “X”. But you’ll get used to it really fast.

The price is really good and it’s totally worth it.

The game is also good, although it’s in Japanese and if you don’t know any you may find it kinda hard, but you can use some guide in youtube. Also for the downloadable content you need to have a Japanese account.

If you like Japanese game you’ll need to create a different account and it would be better to have a 2nd memory card since you can only use 1 card per account unless you format it every time you switch accounts. (This is for every version of Vita NOT only this one).

Let me start off by saying that I love the PlayStation Vita! I first purchased the Vita slim in 2014, but I wanted the better OLED screen on the original model. And, so I purchased the Onigara Vita and I couldn’t be happier! The screen quality is fantastic and the design on the back looks great. If you’re in the market for a PlayStation Vita and you want something that stands out, then I highly recommend you pick this up.
