Way better than expected., December 24, 2015

Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This review is from: Motoraux ® 3D VR Virtual Reality Glasses Headset , Suitable for Google, iPhone, Samsung Note, LG, Huawei, HTC, Moto screen smartphone (Wireless Phone Accessory)
So I purchased this, and THEN read the reviews, which made me a little apprehensive about my purchase. Someone said there were fake reviews for this product. Not sure how they can tell.

I got this as a gift for my daughter who like techy things. Yesterday, the goggles arrived at my office. I decided to try them out with my Samsung 6. If they weren’t that great, I was going to return them for a refund. To my surprise, they were fantastic!!! I mean, yes, there are better, more expensive vr goggles out there, but for the price, this one works just great! The head straps are comfortable, and the seal was good; couldn’t see any light. I downloaded some free VR apps on my phone, and I can’t put this thing down! Everyone around me in the office is trying it out. I doubt it is going to make it under the tree because I want to play with it here at work.

Only con so far: it’s a little hard to get open the compartment to get my phone in and out, but other than that, I think I got way more than I paid for. 🙂

Very Nice VR Headset, February 29, 2016

Verified Purchase(What’s this?)
This is a very nice VR headset. Now, before you run away, note that I have been a member here since 2008 and didn’t sign up just to write a glowing review. I know it is disheartening to read a review only to find at the very end that the item was received at a discount for a review, so I am going to tell you up front. I did receive this unit at a discount for my unbiased review, but this is indeed an honest review and not a fake or scam. I was as surprised as anyone when I was contacted with the offer and gladly accepted. Wouldn’t you?

To be fair, I also have another VR headset that I purchased on Amazon for $40+ that I will compare to this unit so you can see what the differences are before making your decision. Some of my photos will show the other unit but I didn’t blatantly show which unit it is. Note that in one of the photos showing the comparative sizes of the lens, the lenses still have the protective film on them which is why it looks milky. Doh!

Initial Observations: Nicely packaged and well protected for shipment. Included in the box is the headset, a microfiber lens cleaning cloth, and the instruction manual. The first thing I want to point out is that the QR code that is in the instruction manual worked GREAT for giving sharp, clear images. While this may not appear to be a big deal, the other, more expensive set I own gave me very poor focus and depth using the included QR code. I tried making my own and ended up using the QR code for a Homido set for the best image clarity. Even after doing that, this headset gives MUCH better image quality.

Using It: The perforated padding around the mask is more comfortable than the smooth padding on my other set and feels much better on your skin for longer durations such as watching a movie. Also, the manner of retaining your cell phone is light years better than my other unit. My phone is an LG G3 which is about the size of a Galaxy S5 but has a 5.5″ screen. This unit has a door that is held closed by a strong magnet. It literally takes just a few seconds to drop your phone into place and shut the door. My other headset has a tray with spring loaded “fingers” that hold your phone in place. It takes a lot of fiddling to get your phone in the right position before the tray can be inserted properly. That may not be an issue with a smaller phone, but the fact remains that this unit has no problem with my G3 phone whereas the other unit does.
I’ve already mentioned that this unit set up perfectly with the included QR code but it bears repeating just how much better this set looks than my other, more expensive one. Crystal clear and very sharp images. Terrific. This style holder also seems to leak less light than the tray unit. One more thing: depending on your phone case, your phone might fit in this unit without having to remove the case. My other headset with the sliding tray? Forget it. Not happening. Case has to come off.

Adjustments: There are of course adjustments for the headband to get a comfortable fit, but I was surprised at how easy it was to get a great image using the 2 focal adjustments provided. My other set has independent adjustments for each lens for eye spacing and focal depth because I thought all these adjustments would be necessary to get a proper image. This unit has only a wheel adjustment in the center (that adjusts the side-to-side spacing between the lenses) and a knob on each side (that adjusts the distance from the phone to the lenses). I wear glasses and there is room for me to wear them with the headset. I have to stress again how easy it was to get super sharp images. The distance knobs can be adjusted independently if you need to slightly vary the distance to the screen for left eye and right eye, but it is somewhat limited.

Value: For <$30 this is a terrific value. If I had known how good this unit was I would never have purchased the other one.

Other Notes: One thing I initially thought was an absolute MUST-HAVE is the “button” on the side for use in some games. Turns out that the reliability of the button on my expensive headset is iffy at best and you are much better served with one of the many bluetooth remotes available. This unit does not have the button and frankly it is neither missed nor wanted.
This unit also has the removable cover to allow for augmented reality using your phone’s camera (overlays graphics onto real images). Many units do not.

Final Thoughts: This is a great budget headset. Much better than my more expensive set and in a totally different league than the many available units made of actual cardboard. Is it worth $30? IMHO, You betcha.

This review is from: Motoraux ® 3D VR Virtual Reality Glasses Headset , Suitable for Google, iPhone, Samsung Note, LG, Huawei, HTC, Moto screen smartphone (Wireless Phone Accessory)
I previously used google cardboard for my VR 3D needs to test it out. Over time, it was just not comfortable and I thought there had to be a better products to use VR with your phone. This is that products and for multiple reasons.
First of all, unlike cheapo google cardboard (it is cheap for a reason though), the lenses are individually adjustable so that you can get the perfect focal point for each eye! Hugely important for users with different optical corrections for each eye. Also it allows you to put the visor up to your face, too. The eye distance can be adjusted easily, too.
The head strap is elastic and very comfortable. The overhead strap is very important in preventing the glasses from tilting unlike the cardboard which only has the horizontal strap. Adjusting the size is easy as all through bands are velcro.
Finally, and probably more importantly, is the cushion that lays on your face. Far more comfortable than a sharp cardboard edge and really helps block the environmental light out for full immersion.
If your VR app requires the use of the camera, the front plate can come off (it is held in place magnetically) so that your phone can use your camera.
The added bonus metalic earbuds are a nice touch as they are pretty decent quality.
Please note that I was provided a review sample.
