Not just a typical romance, July 11, 2015

I purchased this book expecting a typical romance. Sexy, protective, struggling boy meets wild, spoiled rich girl. Paris Hilton or Lindsay Lohan styled trouble came to mind. What I got was a gripping, heartfelt story about two people trying to find themselves in spite of opposition from every turn. Yes, Dani was rich but not spoiled. She used her success to help others because of her difficult and abusive childhood. And…because she recognized that without someone taking a chance on her, she may not have experienced her own success. Cope was definitely sexy and protective but not really struggling. He came from a rich family and could have taken the easy way through life but chose independence over reliance on his family – in spite of his parent’s constant attempts to interfere at every turn.

There was a lot I liked about this novel. The characters were well developed and their story drew you in from the first page. Dani is a tragic, wounded soul who turns to alcohol to fill the holes in her life. Cope is just the right man to show her love is a better solution. It was easy to relate to both Dani and Cope and believe they were going to overcome the odds and make it. The plot flowed smoothly and there was enough romance and suspense to keep you engaged until the very end. This book was a great read and I would highly recommend it for those looking for the escape of a good romance with the added bonus of depth and intrigue.

Romance with a gritty edge., July 31, 2015

Daniella Grayson seems to have it all, a successful career in films, money and good looks. Her reason to seek the limelight been the abandonment by her father when she was five; somewhere out there he might be watching her and proud. I thought this was a very touching and realistic motivation for the character to be into acting. Then they find Daniella’s father’s body and her abusive mother is arrested for his murder. What I liked most about this book is the character of Daniella, she had to cope with a lot in her young life and being from an abusive home, she fell into an abusive relationship, which led her to drugs and alcohol addiction. She managed to walk away from that and turn her life around. She’s not a victim and able to steer her life onto the right path, despite her past conspiring against her. I would say this is a romance, but there is also a tense thriller story line within it. It’s well written and easy to read, it kept my attention from start to finish. The love scenes between her and Cope are quite hot and steamy, but not too explicit. I would recommend this if you like romance with a grittier edge. Very enjoyable read.

Suspenseful, Enjoyable and Romantic, April 12, 2016

Injury is a well-written and suspenseful romantic tale.

Daniella Grayson was a successful actress. She was rich, famous, and had a following of fans, yet she was troubled and unhappy. Having grown up in a dysfunctional home with an abusive mother and an absent father, Daniella sought comfort where she could. Unfortunately, Daniella chose the party life, with alcoholic drinking and unhealthy relationships. True love was nothing, but a fairy tale to Daniella, until Robert Copeland (Cope), became more to her than just a chauffeur. Not everyone, though, was happy with Daniella’s new love life, especially an obsessive, dangerous, and cruel ex-lover.

The two main characters, Daniella, and Cope were easy to become involved with because their characters were well-developed and their dialogue natural. Cope was my favorite character. I loved his caring and understanding nature. Daniella won me over. She worked hard to heal her inner demons and stop her self-destructive behavior. It was easy to root for this couple. I would have liked to have known Cope’s parents better and experience with them the events that lead them to their ultimate decision. And the ex-lover, well let’s just say, that the author crafts a perfect villain to add suspense and depth to this story.

I enjoyed reading Injury and would recommend it to anyone who savors compelling romantic tales.
