FIFA always has it’s problems, but this time they took a step back, September 30, 2015

i’ll give them credit, they tried to make the game better and I can see how if they had done a good job it would’ve been better. but instead they destroyed everything about the game that was good. offensive players are impossibly slow, while defenders are incredibly quick. online lag makes the game impossible and passing power and accuracy are beyond awful. and i’m talking what should be simple passes, not the no look ones they were trying to stop OPing. ive tapped x and had the ball fly down field, and then put a ton of power on triangle only for the ball to slowly roll to an opponent.

EA keeps letting us down., September 26, 2015

This review is from: FIFA 16 – Standard Edition – PlayStation 4 (Video Game)
This game is a waste of money all around, and Im going to give you the reasons. BTW, I dont have PES, I dont think that game is better, and I dont own it. I bought Fifa and thats what Im going to talk about.
First of all I own every FIFA copy from Fifa 98, til today. I know what Im talking about.
Why this is a waste of your hard worked money:
1) Its basically the same game, but its slower. Everything is clumsier. The movement, the passes, etc.
2) Its impossible to tackle.
3) No matter what player you have, when a through ball is sent to your forward, youll always arrive second. You could be playing Scumback United, the CB is going to reach the ball first.
4) The other team will be fast and diligent. Your players will take the time of their lives to control and pass the ball.
5) No matter where you shoot, or when, the rival players will be on the way. ALWAYS.
6) There seems that when the computer wants to score a goal, theres nothing you can do to stop. You’ll know what Im talking about.

This is a VERY frustrating game, I thought the series improved with Fifa 15, but this is just a scam. I wished a company like Rockstar or Bethesda would give it a go, im sick and tired of companies like EA.

****************EDITED – 2/4/16***********************

I’m not going to go crazy here and say that this is the best FIFA of all time or anything, but I will say that after playing this game for multiple hours a day for the last six months, this is a very alright game. It’s good. I give it four stars now as opposed to two, and here are some thoughts about the changes/lack of changes:

– EA has worked with this game. They haven’t simply let it rot and left us to stew about everything they aren’t doing. The fixes and patches aren’t game-altering, game-changing or even game-improving in some cases, but they’re working with it, which as an investor in the franchise, I thoroughly appreciate. I’m not giving them four stars for their effort by any means, as this game was atrocious at release, but for the product that they’ve finally produced. (If you’re reading this EA leadership, you could STILL be doing much more.)
– Career mode is absolutely fantastic. It’s great. Speaking from a manager’s perspective, the ability to train players is a game-changer for avid career-mode players. As with all modes in this series, it is imperfect, but they continue to improve it, which is just about all I can ask for.
– Dribbling is fantastic as well. I was so confused as to why EA took away the close-control dribble (L1 on PS, LB on XBox) and replaced it with the “no-touch dribble”, but it’s very useful. It’s another weapon in someone’s dribbling arsenal, as you can still control and dribble closely without needing the button in this version. New skill moves good as well.
– Now for the biggest problem before for most: PASSING. Omg, how horrible it was for a while. My verdict is simply that it is much more difficult to play passes in this game for the most part (I strongly recommend switching to manual passing…), due to the fact that AI interceptions have been mega-boosted in this game. It makes it more of a challenge, but still nearly to a fault in some situations. Defenders are still too smart in some situations and are HORRIBLY imbalanced (65 overall players will pick off through balls just as much as the likes of John Terry, Thiago Silva, etc.). However, the ability to play crisper ground passes is a big plus. And as you get used to the passing, at least for me, it’s good. A struggle to get used to if you’ve played previous versions, but good. Additionally, for the most part, friendly AI players make better runs than previous versions.
– Going along with my previous point, teams are still generic and imbalanced. 95% of teams play the same way, with their tactics/gameplay only reliant on the game situation (cup final, random league game, etc.). This game has a long way to go to catch up with PES tactically.

Unchanged negatives include…
– Goalkeepers punch the ball 30x a game. Like seriously. MAKE IT STOP.
– The higher the difficulty, the more the AI passes the ball around at the back, with the GK, etc. MAKE IT STOP.
– Officiating still very predictable and imbalanced, especially in the higher difficulties. MAKE IT STOP.

I’ll end on this note: I believe that many of the negative reviews for this game, including my own, were from those who simply felt that this game changed too much from previous versions. In some ways, it most definitely has changed for the worst. EA continues to go away from the desires and suggestions of its fans in many ways, most of them money-driven. But, overall, this game is good. If you are reading this and whole-heartedly disagree, I understand where you’re coming from. I HATED THIS GAME for a solid month or two. But being the idiot and football-lover I am, I continued to try and make it work, and it paid off. And EA has continued to try and make it work, and it has paid off to an extent as well. As an enormous company, EA still could produce much better, and would do well to not release half-developed games anymore before they lose any more fans (this game, Madden, Battlefront, etc.), but they haven’t lost me yet.

**********PREVIOUS REVIEW********** (2 stars)
This is the worst FIFA to date. Believe the reviews. Like many on here, I have played FIFA for a very long time and love the game of football. I will preface this by saying that I mainly play against the CPU on Legendary in career mode, though I have tried every mode in this game.

I have tried to enjoy this game for a month now, and I cannot bring myself to do it. The game feels like it was rushed into release, and for the first time ever for me, it feels like I’m playing an arcade game. It feels more like hockey or basketball than football – not that the game itself is fast necessarily, but as many reviewers have already pointed out, there is little to no midfield play at all. The ball goes from one end of the field to the other in a heartbeat. Basically…
