EPL; Tottenham Vs Chelsea Preview And Analysis
Category : News
Tottenham comes from fourth consecutive victory in Premier League, winning with ease away from home against Watford last Sunday evening. Everything looked sealed for the Spurs already after the first halftime, since Kane scored twice (in 27th and 33rd minute), while Alli scored third for the Spurs in 41st minute.
Same player scored another goal in 46th minute, while the visiting side lowered down the tempo from that moment on, but remained with much more of the ball possession and more of the chances created. Hosts only managed to reduce the deficit in last moments of the game with a goal from Kaboul. After this victory, players of Tottenham remained at fifth position, but now having only three points less than third placed Manchester City and with every chance to get comfortable at Champions League positions in case they continue in the same manner.
Spurs are set to play in 4-2-3-1 formation with Kane as central striker, plus Eriksen, Alli and Sissoko as offensive midfielders. Offensive midfielder Erik Lamela is doubtful for this clash with a hip problem, while Kyle Walker and Jan Vertonghen both return from suspension after missing their victory over Watford.
Chelsea, on the other side, took a 4:2 victory at home over Stoke City last Saturday afternoon, but still the impression is that the Blues somehow conceded goals way too easy. Cahill scored the opening goal in 34th minute, but the visitors managed to respond at the beginning of the repetition via Martins Indi. Willian re-installed their lead in 57th, but Crouch leveled up the result again seven minutes later.
Chelsea could have earned their victory a bit easier, but needed last twenty-five minutes to seal the three pointer thanks to further goals from Willian and Costa. This was 13th consecutive victory for Chelsea, as the team continues to lead the table with five points more than Liverpool and seven points more than Manchester City at the moment.
Visitors are set to play in 4-3-3 formation with Pedro and Hazard on the wings, plus Costa as central striker for this match. Central defender John Terry is doubtful for this one and probably will not be playing, while Marcos Alonso is expected to recover from ankle knock he suffered during the weekend. Pedro returns from suspension and could replace Willian in attack. Nemanja Matic could come in place of Cesc Fabregas here as well.
Both teams are coming in a really good form here and definitely the game itself will be decided in details. Two out of last three mutual matches between these two sides have ended as a draw and I definitely see value in such an option. One way or another, the chances for a draw are way biger than the current odds suggest.
I expect this match to finish with over 2.5 goals.
