EPL; Liverpool Vs Manchester City Preview And Analysis
Category : News
Liverpool celebrated their third consecutive victory in Premier League, as the team comes from a 4:1 victory at home over West Ham last Tuesday evening, even though the Reds didn’t enter the game as positive as they should, since they conceded a goal in 12th minute via Walters.
However, they controlled the ball from that moment on and dominated in last ten minutes of the first halftime, managing to revert the scoreline in these minutes.
Firstly Lallana leveled up the result in 35th minute, while Firmino revert the scoreline completely in 44th. The Reds continued being better in the second halftime as well, doubling up the lead via an own goal in 60th minute, while Sturridge sealed the victory ten minutes later without many more chances on neither of the sides to change the result. After this victory, Liverpool remained second at the table, having six points less than firstly placed Chelsea and one more than third placed Citizens, meaning that this match remains a must win for the in case they want to continue with the title race.
Liverpool will be playing in 4-3-3 formation with Firmino, Mane and Sturridge in attack. Midfielder Philippe Coutinho is injured and can’t make for this match, while the hosts also miss Joel Matip and Marko Grujic who isn’t fully fit for this one yet.
Manchester City, on the other side, also comes from their third straight victory, as the team walked away with a three pointer away from home against Hull City 3:0 last Monday evening.
They were better for the most of the game, but only managing to exploit and convert their chances into goals in last twenty minutes of the first first halftime.
Toure opened up the opponent from a penalty kick taken in 72nd minute, while it was all easier from that moment on for the Citizens, who scored another one just five minutes later via Iheanacho, sealing the victory in fourth minute of the additional time with an own goal from Davies. With this victory they continued having great record away from home, seven victories and two defeats in nine matches, being still just the third team in Premier League, with seven points less than leaders from Chelsea.
Visitors from Manchester should continue in their usual 4-2-3-1 formation with Aguero as striker who is back in the team after serving four matches ban, plus Sterling, Silva and Bruyne as offensive midfielders. John Stones, Vincent Kompany and Ilkay Gundogan are all injured, while Yaya Toure may drop to the bench here in favor of Fernando.
Another effective and high scoring game is what I expect when these two sides meet again. Liverpool overcame West Ham with ease and are currently having great undefeated record, surely wanting to continue in a positive manner against the Citizens. Visitors are only a point behind the Reds and will try to recover here, in a game that will be first match renewing rivalry fro Bundesliga for the two coaches.
I expect this match to to end with over 3 goals and both teams scoring.
