Roberto Firmino has told the Liverpool boss that his preferred position is as a striker.
The Brazilian, who was signed as an attacking midfielder from Hoffenheim, can be deployed anywhere across the front three and finished last season as Liverpool’s leading league goalscorer in 2015-16 with 10 goals in 31 games played.
Having started the season leading Liverpool’s attack, The 25-year-old has seen his position shifted out wide as Divock Origi and Daniel Sturridge compete for a place in Klopp’s starting line-up.
‘At the moment, I am playing up front but I can play anywhere the manager asks me to. My preference is to be inside the area, near where the goals are scored – that’s my preference!’ Firmino told the Liverpool website
Manchester United’s out of favour midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin is on the way out of Old Trafford, with another Premier League team looking his likely destination.
West Brom is said to have submitted a bid to sign the midfielder and have tabled a record £18m offer for the Frenchman.
Schneiderlin, who is widely expected to leave Old Trafford in January after completely disappointing spell following his £24m move from Southampton, is being chased by a host of Premier League clubs after falling down the pecking order under Jose Mourinho.
Last week, reports claimed that the midfielder was on the verge of joining Everton in a £24 million deal.
Now, Sky Sports claim that tony Pulis has launched an audacious attempt to bring the 27-year-old holding midfielder to the Hawthorns with a club record bid.
On instagram, Southampton released pictures of the new strip, which features a white shirt and red shorts, with red and white striped socks.
The club was asked by the Premier League to come up with a new design as the bosses felt that their home and away kits clashed too much with Bournemouth’s strip.
Unfortunately, fans of the Saints will not be able to purchase a replica shirt of their own as it will not be going on sale.
Instead, the club have opted to give away an Under Armour jersey as part of a competition for the supporters.
Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski has extended his contract with the club through June 2021
Lewandowski’s contract was due to expire in 2019, and there had been intense speculation about a move to Real Madrid, but he has committed his future to Bayern.
The Polish forward, 28, scored 30 goals in 32 games last season to lift the league’s top scorer award and secure the title for Bayern, as well as DFB-Pokal.
“I’m delighted that the discussions came to a positive outcome and that I’m staying attached to Bayern for another few years. Together we still have great aims.”, He told the club’s website.
Bayern CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge says he’s happy that the club has managed to tie one of the best centr forward in the world for a long term.
